No Tentacles, No Problem

A newly discovered animal called the upside down jellyfish has a very distinct defense mechanism—it will release venomous masses into the water to kill prey. These have been compared to bombs as they irritate and sting unsuspecting creatures in areas such as the Florida Keys and the Caribbean where they are commonly found.

Named after its appearance, the upside down jellyfish is one of the many unique animals that live in the ocean, and they are capable are doing mind-blowing things. Jellyfish, despite having no brain, eyes, or heart, are able to clone themselves, eat animals such as shrimp, and are immortal in some cases. Their infamous stings are created by specialized cells in their tentacles that produce venom, and, interestingly enough, they have also been sent up to space for missions dating back to the 90’s.

It’s no joke that jellyfish do incredible things even though they are a relatively “simple” animal. Honestly, I would take bioluminescence over unconsciously memorizing Disney songs any day.
